Mart has studied piano at the Estonian Academy of Music under Prof. Bruno Lukk. He continued his piano studies at the Sibelius Academy, where he completed his Master of Music degree in 1993 under the guidance of Hui-Ying Liu-Tawaststjerna and his Doctor of Music degree in 2014 under the guidance of Prof. Liisa Pohjola. Mart Ernesaks has also participated in master classes with Professors Klaus Schilde, Dmitri Bashkirov, Hans Leygraf, Pascal Devoyon and Ralf Gothón. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Finland, Estonia, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, the Baltic States, Ukraine and Georgia. Ernesaks has made numerous recordings for Estonian Radio and the record company “Melodija”. Since 1994 he has been a lecturer at the Helsinki Conservatory.
