A warm welcome to an evening where words, images and music merge into one profound experience.
Graphic storyteller Joonas Sildre takes you on a journey through the creation of his work Between Two Sounds, from the childhood of composer Arvo Pärt to the discovery of his musical language and life in Soviet Estonia. Sildre tells how the story took shape and how the friendship with the Pärt family grew – all while drawing live in front of the audience.
At the heart of the event is the tension between silence and sound and what happens between the notes. Performed by Mart Ernesaks, Arvo Pärt’s piano works stop time and transport the listener into an inner world where the music resonates on an emotional level.
The evening leaves behind a calmed mind, perhaps also a little moved by melancholy and beauty.
