LINDA HEDLUND

Linda Hedlund completed a master’s degree in music in 2002 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and a doctorate in music at the Sibelius Academy in 2010. Since 2019, she has also specialised in baroque violin playing.

Hedlund has performed at several festivals including Musica nova Helsinki, Grafenegg Festival in Austria, and Helsinki Festival. Teatro Bibiena in Mantova, Nancyphonies in France, Konzerthaus in Vienna and Carnegie Hall in New York. She has also performed as a soloist with, among others, the Lohja City Orchestra, OSUEL Londrina Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), Vogtland Philharmonie (Germany), Milli Insurance Orchestra (Istanbul), Les Solistes de Monte Carlo and the Austrian Chamber Orchestra.

In addition to her concert activities, Linda has taught master classes in Italy (Cervo Master Classes), USA, Asia and South America. In 2011-2012 she was Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Hawaii.

Hedlund founded the Emäsalo Music Festival in Finland in 2006 and serves as the festival’s artistic director. Hedlund has made recordings with, among others, pianist Oliver Kern and guitarist Otto Tolonen. Her most recent critically acclaimed album was released in 2021 on the Naxos label and features works by Finnish composers for violin and orchestra.
