The Christmas concert of the Turku Music Festival this year is a joint production with the Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti!
The programme of the Christmas concert includes Italian opera repertoire popularised by the late Luciano Pavarotti and Christmas music. The programme is being planned by Paolo Andreoli, Artistic Director of the Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti.
The foundation singers are accompanied by two top-notch Finnish singers: baritone Gabriel Kivivuori Sereno and soprano Emma Kajander.
Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti
The Luciano Pavarotti Foundation (Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti) is a non-profit organisation with a double goal: to keep Maestro Pavarotti’s human and artistic memory alive through major events all over the world and to support young opera singers wishing to pursue a career. Maestro Pavarotti used his great talent to bring opera to a worldwide audience of millions. Out of the ordinary in many ways, his spectacular voice – combined with his disarming charisma – touched the hearts of many, and his generosity had no limits.
His achievements placed him in the Olympus of artists, but the most significant legacy he left us is the importance of promoting culture to build a better world and the duty to share passion, knowledge and talent with others. Helping young singers to shape their future was a goal that Maestro Pavarotti cultivated throughout his life, and today the Foundation seeks to fulfill his same dream by following the path he traced, offering opportunities and visibility to talented young opera singers, also trying to make education and training accessible to all.
The opera singers supported by the Pavarotti Foundation have been appreciated by audiences not only in Italy but also in the United States, China, Oman, Tunisia, England, Finland, France, Russia, Indonesia, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, South Korea and Japan.
The Foundation also decided to create a sort of permanent “monument” to Maestro’s life by transforming the house in Modena, his last residence, into a museum so that his perpetual memory could be rooted in the land of Emilia, which he loved so much.
A visit to the Luciano Pavarotti Home Museum in Modena allows visitors to discover Luciano Pavarotti in the warm light of his rooms, to gently approach his memory by admiring his personal objects, to get to know his daily routines, and to discover the simple man behind the great artist.
