Kreeta-Julia Heikkilä is a versatile, energetic, and dynamic violinist who is in high demand internationally as a chamber musician, soloist, and concertmaster.
Heikkilä has performed as a chamber musician and soloist at numerous international festivals in Europe, South Korea, America, and Russia. In addition to numerous Finnish orchestras, she has played abroad as a soloist with the European Union Youth Orchestra, the Danish Chamber Orchestra, the iPalpiti Chamber Orchestra, and the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra, among others. Her solo engagements in 2025 included Anna Clyne’s double concerto with Pekka Kuusisto and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. Heikkilä has served as principal concertmaster of the Vaasa City Orchestra (2012), the Danish Radio Chamber Orchestra (2013–) and the Oulu Symphony Orchestra.
In 2024, she was appointed second concertmaster of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, she has served as guest concertmaster in Finland and abroad, including with the BBC Symphony Orchestra in London. In addition to her concert activities, she strives to develop classical music culture by serving as artistic director and violinist for the Helsinki Chamber Music Festival and the Minimalia concert series, which she founded. As a member of the piano trio Teos, with cellist Jaani Helander and pianist Jaan Ots, she has been actively performing since 2017.
Kreeta-Julia has been teaching chamber music and violin at the Sibelius Academy since 2019. A passionate teacher, she also teaches violin masterclasses in the summer in Raudaskylä and Joutseno, among other places. Heikkilä began playing the violin at the age of five as a student of Geza Szilvay at the East Helsinki Music Institute.
She then studied at the Sibelius Academy under Tuomas Haapanen, Mi-kyung Lee, Päivyt Meller, and Tero Latvala, and at the London Royal College of Music under Jan Ots. She has since studied at the Sibelius Academy under Tuomas Haapanen, Mi-kyung Lee, Päivyt Meller, and Tero Latvala, at the Royal College of Music in London in Jan Repko’s class, and chamber music at the Royal Danish Academy of Music under Tim Frederiksen as a member of Trio Nord.
Heikkilä plays a Michele Deconet violin on loan from Pro Filharmonia.
