Born in Alicante, Spain, clarinettist Fàtima Boix Cantó has performed at renowned venues such as the Lincoln Center in New York, the Berliner Philharmonie, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo. She has appeared with distinguished ensembles such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra and the Tapiola Sinfonietta. She currently plays Second and E-flat Clarinet with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and she also teaches the E-flat clarinet at the Sibelius Academy.
As a solo performer, Fàtima Boix Cantó has premiered the Concertos for piccolo clarinet by William Neil and Kalevi Aho and a number of other works by composers including Lauri Supponen, Sebastian Hilli, Sergio Castrillón, José Luis Gómez Aleixandre, Riikka Talvitie and Timo Hietala. Beyond classical and contemporary genres, she has explored free improvisation, electroacoustic music, and interdisciplinary arts. In her free time, she enjoys painting as a form of personal expression.
