TANJA NIIRANEN

Pianist Tanja Niiranen often performs not only as a soloist, but also in various ensembles, ranging in size from a duo to a symphony orchestra. From April 2025, she will work as a chorepetiteur and accompanist at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. Previously, she has held similar positions at the Turku University of Applied Sciences and the Sibelius Academy at the University of the Arts. She holds a Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy with Ilmo Ranta, majoring in piano chamber music and lied.

Niiranen has performed extensively in Finland and abroad. She is particularly interested in contemporary music, and has premiered several works by Finnish composers. She has won prizes at the Kuopio Piano Competition, the Winter Chamber Festival and the Helsinki Lied Competition. In the summer of 2024, together with soprano Emma Hartikainen, she was awarded the Salzburg City Cultural Foundation Recognition Prize at the Mozarteum in Austria. Niiranen’s studies and artistic work have been supported by MES, the Music Centre Foundation and the Martin Wegelius Memorial Foundation, among others.
