PETRI KRZYWACKI

Petri Krzywacki (b.1971) is a Finnish guitarist, composer and arranger. He specialises in jazz, but also works extensively with other areas of rhythm music. He is known as a skilled and creative musician and performs regularly both at home and abroad.

In addition to playing, Krzywacki keeps himself busy by writing arrangements on a regular basis for the Riku Niemi Orchestra. His arrangements can also be heard in Vantaa Orchestra, Savonlinna Big Band, Kaartin Combo, Samae Koskinen and many others. Krzywacki has wide experience in various
styles of music both as a player and as a writer.

Krzywacki is a guitar teacher at the Espoo Music College’s rhythm music department Ebel. In addition to private lessons, he runs a summer jazz guitar course at Otavan Opisto, and is also the director of the ensemble course at the same institution.

Important collaborators include Antti Sarpila, Wade Mikkola, Ulf Johansson-Werre (SWE), Alan Matheson (CAN), Leroy Jones (USA), Juli Wood (USA) and Dan Barnett (AUS). Krzywacki has recorded two CDs under his own name, “One Step Out” (2007) and “Open Source” (2009). The latter album features top American musicians Hans Glawischnig (bass) and Mark Ferber (drs). The albums have received a lot of good feedback from critics and listeners alike.
