Minna Leinonen’s compositions draw their impulse from encounters in her everyday life, from literature, natural phenomena, and cultural heritage. For her, working on an equal footing in interdisciplinary projects is of particular importance.
Leinonen’s works have been performed by, among others, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Norrbotten Neo, Cuarteto Quiroca (ES), YL Male Voice Choir, VALO Quartet, KNM Berlin, defunensemble, Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, TampereRaw, Key Ensemble, Kamus Quartet, and Uusinta Ensemble.
Her output has been recognized with awards such as the Teosto Prize in 2024 for the work …and we are rotating with it and the Classical Emma Award in 2025 for the work Vyöry. In spring 2025, Leinonen graduated from the University of the Arts Helsinki as Doctor of Music.
