Violinist Heidi Ilmolahti is the principal first violin of the Oulu Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lapland Chamber Orchestra, and Avanti!, and has appeared as a soloist with the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra under conductor Juha Kangas. Ilmolahti is a versatile chamber musician and an active performer of contemporary music. She performs regularly in the Oulu Symphony’s chamber music series and has appeared at several festivals, including the Oulu Music Festival, October for New Music, the Kumpula Chamber Concerts, the Hetta Music Days, the Lochteå Church Music Festival, and the Kajaani Poetry Week. She is also a member of the Contemporary Music Society Lokakuu.
Heidi Ilmolahti holds a Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, where she studied with Petri Aarnio and Päivyt Meller. She has also pursued further studies in Professor Ulf Schneider’s violin class at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, as well as in numerous masterclasses. Her work has been supported by the Music Centre Foundation, the Finnish Music Foundation, and the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
