­Alexander “Santtu” Pozdniakovas is a Finnish violist from Helsinki. For the next year and a half he will substitute for the solo violist in the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra.  Alexander has performed with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, and various festivals and chamber music events.

Alexander holds a Bachelor of Music degree and is currently completing his Master of Music studies at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. His mentors and teachers include Nils Mönkemeyer, Tabea Zimmermann, Yuval Gotlibovich, Lilli Maijala, and Pirkko Simojoki. In the 2019 Oulu Viola Competition, Alexander was awarded second place.

Alexander plays a 17th century Mantegazza viola on loan from the Sibelius Academy.
