This year, something truly unique will come to life during the Night of the Arts in Turku: Aurajoki soi will fill the city with song, light, and togetherness. Organised in collaboration between Turku Music Festival and Sulasol, the event transforms the beloved Aura River into a living stage where dozens of singers and city residents come together through music.
Throughout the evening, choirs from the Turku region will gather along the banks of the Aura River to create a large shared concert experience. The main programme near the Library Bridge features the choirs’ own performances as well as community singing in which the audience can also participate. The programme is led by the YL Male Voice Choir together with Pasi Hyökki, with participating ensembles including Laulun Ystävät, Auralia and the Puolalanmäki Children’s and Youth Choir Chorus Iucundus.
After the main concert, the programme continues at the Library Bridge every hour from 8:00 PM to 11:15 PM with short choir performances. As dusk falls, the Aura River and the Library Bridge will be illuminated as part of the event experience. At the same time, the choirs will spread across the city for the traditional Aurajoki raikaa restaurant walk, beginning at 8:00 PM.
The programme begins already in the afternoon at Market Square, where the choirs will hold an open rehearsal. These pre-events invite audiences to follow the choirs’ preparations and tune into the atmosphere of the Night of the Arts.
Aurajoki soi is a free event open to everyone, inviting people to pause, listen, and take part. It is an evening when the whole of Turku resonates with music. Come and experience how the Aura River unites the city into one great choir.
