Tuukka Vasama is a freelance actor based in Porvoo. He graduated from the Theatre Academy in 2005 and has built a versatile career especially within the independent theatre scene. Vasama has co-founded several artistic communities: Red Nose Company, specialising in theatrical clowning; Esitystaiteen seura, dedicated to live contemporary art; and the children’s cultural centre Lilla Villan in Sipoo.
Vasama won the Young Reciter of the Year competition in 2008, and his insightful monologue performances have received awards both in Finland and abroad. He is a regular guest at Kajaani Poetry Week and frequently appears in Yle’s poetry programmes. Vasama speaks fluent Swedish, French, and English. In the field of classical music, he has collaborated in performances with pianists Maria Suokas, Jenni Lappalainen, and Anna Kuvaja.
Tuukka Vasama and Timo Ruuskanen have worked as a duo since 2012. Together they have created eight clown productions, performed more than 900 times in Finland and abroad. Their production Aleksis Kivi received both the Finnish State Award for Public Information and the Helsinki City Cultural Award. In the field of classical music, they have collaborated with ensembles including Meta4, the Kamus Quartet, the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Lahti, and the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra.
