TIMO RUUSKANEN

Timo Ruuskanen is an award-winning actor, director, and playwright based in Helsinki, and graduated from the Theatre Academy in 2005. He is one of the founders of Red Nose Company and has built an extensive career both in Finnish institutional theatres and in the independent theatre scene.

Ruuskanen’s artistic range extends from mime and clowning to classical stage performance. In addition to his artistic work, he regularly teaches clowning and performance skills. He discovered the wondrous world of classical music in middle age and now greatly enjoys working with it as a theatre artist.

Timo Ruuskanen and Tuukka Vasama have worked as a duo since 2012. Together they have created eight clown productions, performed more than 900 times in Finland and abroad. Their production Aleksis Kivi received both the Finnish State Award for Public Information and the Helsinki City Cultural Award. In the field of classical music, they have collaborated with ensembles including Meta4, the Kamus Quartet, the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Lahti, and the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra.
