Tero Saarti is an acclaimed trumpeter, composer and arranger. He studied trumpet at the Kuopio Conservatory in the 1980s and went on to the Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory and at the Jazz Department of the Sibelius Academy, from which he graduated in 2003. Saarti joined the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra the same year and has been a key soloist in the orchestra.

Saarti performs extensively in Finland and abroad. In addition to the UMO, he can be heard in the Espoo Big Band, Ricky Tick Big Band, Riku Niemi Orchestra and Vantaa Orchestra, among others. Recent collaborations have included the London Symphony Orchestra, Tango Alakulo Ensemble and David Gordon (UK). Saarti is a trumpet teacher at the Sibelius Academy and Metropolia. He is in demand as a lecturer and masterclass leader both at home and abroad.
