SINFONIETTA FORTIS

Sinfonietta Fortis combines youth and experience. The orchestra brings together experienced musicians from Finland’s leading professional orchestras, talented young music professionals and professional students, as well as freelance musicians.

The orchestra, which started under the name E-ensemble, made its successful debut at the Espoo Organ Night and Aria Festival in 2013. The orchestra has since changed its name and is now known as Sinfonietta Fortis. In addition to its own concerts, the orchestra collaborates with choirs and other ensembles and also performs as an opera orchestra. Sinfonietta Fortis served as the opera orchestra for, among other things, Pehr Henrik Nordgren’s chamber opera Den Svarte Munken (The Black Monk), which was successfully performed by Opera Fortis at the Helsinki Opera Summer in 2022.

Sinfonietta Fortis’ debut recording will be released in early 2026. It features Finnish and Swedish orchestral songs recorded with soprano Helena Juntunen and conductor Teemu Hämäläinen.

The orchestra’s artistic director is conductor Teemu Hämäläinen.
