Onerva Merikanto started singing with the Suzuki-method with Päivi Kukkamäki MuT as a baby, actually even before she was born, in classes for expectant mothers. She is currently studying with Analia Capponi-Savolainen. Onerva studies lied music at the Vantaa Music Institute in the children and youth lied group with Marjukka Eskelinen and Saara-Maija Strandman. In addition to singing, Onerva plays the flute at the Kerava Music Institute with Tuula Honkanen. Onerva also sings in the children’s choir of the Finnish National Opera. The rest of her free time is spent dancing, riding horses, baking and crafting.
