Maximilian Fagerlund is a young 16-year-old pianist from Helsinki. He started playing the piano at the age of six at the West Helsinki Music Institute under Junio Kimanen. In 2015 he moved to the Turku Conservatory of Music as a student of Liisa Malmivaara, who has been Maximilian’s teacher until today.
Maximilian is currently studying at the Helsinki Conservatory. Maximilian is a very experienced performer for his age, whose playing skills range from classical piano music to jazz and improvisation. He also works as a chamber musician, accompanist and active composer. He has been awarded a recognition prize at the international Jugend Musiziert competition for his work “Dabloons” for cello and piano.
Maximilian has participated in the Chopin event with excellent feedback and in the Joutseno Art Summer Masterclass with Antti Hotti as his teacher. In 2023 he was awarded a Pro Musica Foundation scholarship for the promotion of music studies.
