Juho Laitinen works as an instrumentalist, composer, pedagogue, and researcher. After studying cello and voice in Turku, London, and New York, he received his doctorate from the Sibelius Academy in 2013. Laitinen has performed internationally and composed both acoustic and electronic music for concerts, films, and installations. He directs the multidisciplinary forum Tulkinnanvarainen, which is rooted in the history of the avant-garde, along with its ensemble UMUU. Laitinen is also the founder of the Naarmu collective, an open community for music and performance art enthusiasts.
