Eeva Rysä began her cello studies in her hometown of Oulu under Lauri Laitinen. She continued her studies at the Sibelius Academy under Erkki Rautio, and at the Edsberg Music Institute in Stockholm under Frans Helmersson. Soloist diploma in 1987. Eeva Rysä gave her first concert in Helsinki in 1990 with pianist Jouko Laivuori. She works as 2nd soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and has performed with various ensembles in Finland and abroad. Recent collaborations include the Ackord Quartet, percussionist Kazutaka Morita, the trio Fräki-Puusaari-Rysä and composers Mark Andre, Jouni Hirvelä, Maija Hynninen, Ville Raasakka, Tiina Myllärinen and Minna Leinonen. Rysä has worked as an instructor of young cellists at the Sibelius Academy, the Finnish Chamber Orchestra and the FRSO’s cello projects. Eeva Rysä designed the programme for the FRSO Chamber Music Festival Aurinko nousee idästä (The Sun rises from the East) in 2018 and coordinates the programme for the FRSO Chamber Music Series 2020-2021. She has been organising Treklangen concerts for schoolchildren in the Raasepori region since 2013. Rysä is also a member of the board of the Finnish Soloists’ Association and was its president in 2018-2022.
