Aura Mäkinen (b. 2009) began studying violin at the Turku Conservatory in Arja Yurtseven’s class in 2013. Aura is currently continuing her violin studies under Jaakko Ilves and completing a vocational degree in music at the Turku Conservatory. Aura has also actively supplemented her studies at various camps and master classes, where she has been taught by Janne Malmivaara, Alexander Vinnitski, Päivyt Meller, Tero Latvala, and Christel Lee, among others.
Aura has gained competition experience in the national Juhani Heinonen Violin Competition in 2022 and 2025, as well as in the Tallinn International Young Musician Competition in 2025. She performed at the Brinkhall soi festival in the summer of 2023, played as a soloist with the Aura Sinfonia, a joint orchestra of the Turku Conservatory and Puolalanmäki High School, in the spring of 2024, and as a soloist with the orchestra of the Iitti National Music Course in the summer of 2024.
The Finland Proper Regional Fund of the Finnish Cultural Foundation has supported Aura’s violin studies and the purchase of a bow.
