From peacekeeper to one of the most listened to and followed classical music artists in the world. Finland, known as the great country of classical music, has a new star.

Pianist and composer A. Blomqvist is the most listened to Finnish classical music artist on Spotify. A musician with an astonishing background who has racked up hundreds of millions of streams.

For the 30-year-old artist from Jyväskylä, music has always been close to his heart. He started studying piano at the age of 4, but as an adult his path led him into a completely different world as a peacekeeper. While serving in the armed forces in the Middle East, Blomqvist felt he was doing meaningful work for peace and security. But the fire for music lived strong through the years and in 2019 he decided to make his dream come true.

With his heartfelt music, he still feels he is on a mission of peace, this time on a personal level. With 100 million streams and 1 million monthly listeners, A. Blomqvist is by far the most played artist in his genre. This has also been noted by the music industry, and the artist has signed an international recording contract with Sony Masterworks/XXIM. On the light music side, only a few of Finland’s best-known artists, such as ALMA, Käärijä and Darude, have achieved similar figures.

In January 2025, Blomqvist released an album called “Pohjola”, which describes the Finnish nature and soul landscape.
