Seidr is a journey through time – weaving together ancient magic and the musical possibilities of the future. Even its name carries the spells of the past and visions of what is to come. In prehistoric Norway, seidr was a form of sorcery used to foresee and shape fate. Now, this ancient force is reborn in an electroacoustic work that pulses at the intersection of past and future.

Violist Hanna Hohti has gathered composers from across the Nordic region – Finnish Perttu Haapanen, Norwegian Tine Surel Lange, Swedish Jesper Nordin, and Danish Josefine Opsahl. Through their voices, Seidr intertwines the shared history and deep musical roots of the Nordic countries. In the performance, Hanna expands the expressive range of her viola with electronics, with sound engineer Anders Pohjola completing the sonic tapestry.

Seidr does not merely reflect the future of classical music – it shapes it. It invites the listener to experience how echoes from the past meet the unknown of the future. This is a journey that stretches across time, yet resonates powerfully in this very moment.
