For the first time, valuable instruments from the collections of two Nordic foundations – the Finnish Cultural Foundation and Norway’s Dextra Musica – will come together in a joint series of free concerts at the Fuuga Concert Hall.
The evening concert Immeasurably precious – The primordial power of music takes listeners from the roots of Finnish classical music towards the fervour of European Late Romanticism and the unrestrained power of eight string players.
The Finnish Cultural Foundation and Dextra Musica hold the most significant collections in their respective countries of valuable instruments loaned to musicians. Their collections include, among others, violins made by Antonio Stradivari and Andrea Guarneri. The concerts offer a rare opportunity to hear how these centuries-old instruments, renowned throughout the world of classical music, sound in the hands of today’s leading musicians.
As part of the event, audiences will also have the opportunity to discover Finnish violin making, with the Finnish Violin Makers’ Guild presenting its members and their instruments.
The Turku Music Festival presents the concert in collaboration with the Finnish Cultural Foundation and Dextra Musica.
