For the first time, valuable instruments from the collections of two Nordic foundations – the Finnish Cultural Foundation and Norway’s Dextra Musica – will come together in a joint series of free concerts at the Fuuga Concert Hall.

The afternoon concert Immeasurably precious – From folk songs to courtly dance takes listeners to the heart of Nordic string music, where the delicate tradition of folk music meets the refined world of Romanticism. The programme journeys from the unadorned folk melodies of the archipelago to the elegant dance rhythms of the courts.

The Finnish Cultural Foundation and Dextra Musica hold the most significant collections in their respective countries of valuable instruments loaned to musicians. Their collections include, among others, violins made by Antonio Stradivari and Andrea Guarneri. The concerts offer a rare opportunity to hear how these centuries-old instruments, renowned throughout the world of classical music, sound in the hands of today’s leading musicians.

As part of the event, audiences will also have the opportunity to discover Finnish violin making, with the Finnish Violin Makers’ Guild presenting its members and their instruments.

The Turku Music Festival presents the concert in collaboration with the Finnish Cultural Foundation and Dextra Musica.
