Would you like to take a moment to step into 19th-century European cultural life: a world where bold Nordic female composers forged careers that transcended borders and the expectations of their time? Trio Lago’s concert Laura Netzel and her contemporaries: Cosmopolitan Nordic women highlights three exceptional composers whose music deserves to be heard again and again.
Betzy Holmberg, Laura Netzel, and Amanda Maier-Röntgen were international influencers: they studied, performed, and composed in major European cities, building independent artistic identities at a time when the roles assigned to women were narrow. The concert combines lively romanticism, chamber music sophistication, and powerful expression, music that reflects the cosmopolitan lives and artistic courage of its creators.
Trio Lago, violinist Mirka Malmi, cellist Iida-Vilhelmiina Sinivalo, and pianist Tiina Karakorpi, bring this rarely heard repertoire to life with their passionate and profound interpretation. The concert is an invitation to rediscover the history of Nordic music from the perspective of its pioneering women.
Please note the following:
The location of the concert hall has changed. The new location is on the 5th floor of the Factory building at Art House Turku. All concerts will now begin at 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m.
The capacity of the new hall is significantly smaller. Therefore, we ask all participants to register for the concert in advance so that we can ensure that there is enough room for everyone who wants to attend. You can register via the link above or at mike.valtonen@tmj.fi.
