PASI HYÖKKI

Pasi Hyökki (b. 1970) holds a Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy and is a choir conductor. In addition to YL, he conducts the renowned Tapiola Choir and the chamber choir EMO Ensemble, which he founded. With the vocal ensemble Talla, the EMO Ensemble, and the Cantabile Choir, Hyökki has won numerous international choral and ensemble singing competitions. In these competitions, he has repeatedly been awarded the prize for best choir conductor.

Hyökki actively records with all of his choirs, also serving as an executive producer. Recordings with the Tallan Vocal Ensemble, the EMO Ensemble, and YL have been selected as Choir Recordings of the Year. Hyökki was awarded the Klemetti Prize in 2014.

As a sopranist, Pasi Hyökki studied in Urbino, Italy. He gave his debut concert in the fall of 2003 as the soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah, and he has been heard, among other things, as a soloist with the RSO alongside Anu and Piia Koms in a performance of Unsuk Chin’s Cantatrix Sopranica in December 2020.

Pasi Hyökki conceived the Choral Music Season Concerts, which launched in the fall of 2022, and served as chair of their artistic committee. He has also founded choralworks.fi, a completely new type of PDF choral sheet music distribution service that launched in February 2023.
