The Aurora series continues in spring 2026!<\/p>\n

Topias Tihe\u00e4salo <\/strong>and Tuomas Kourula\u2019s<\/strong> concert Baroque music for plucked instruments<\/strong> takes audiences to Europe at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries and into the world of Spanish, Italian and French early Baroque music. The baroque guitar and theorbo are heard both as solo instruments and in duo, creating an intimate and richly nuanced soundscape. The concert offers listeners the opportunity to immerse themselves in the colours of early Baroque music and experience how historical instruments come alive in vivid performance.<\/p>\n

The programme features music by Gaspar Sanz, Santiago de Murcia, Alessandro Piccinini, Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger <\/strong>and Robert de Vis\u00e9e<\/strong> \u2013 composers less familiar to wider audiences \u2013 whose works also gain new shades through improvisation during the evening. Rhythmically vibrant, dance-like sections and recurring passacaglia variations alternate with quieter, more introspective and intimate moments. Alongside the music, the performers share insights into the origins of the works and the cultural context of the period, bringing the world of Baroque closer and deepening the listening experience.<\/p>\n

The result is a rich and dynamic musical journey in which history and spontaneous improvisation intertwine. An experience for devoted early music enthusiasts and new listeners alike.<\/p>\n

The location of the concert hall has changed. The new location is on the 5th floor of the Factory building at Art House Turku. All concerts will now begin at 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

The capacity of the new hall is significantly smaller.
