Turku Music Festival 2023 will be closed by the fabulous Lise Davidsen!
Lise Davidsen, who opened the Turku Music Festival in 2022, will return to Turku in 2023. The closing concert will feature Lise Davidsen and the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by conductor José Miguel Pérez-Sierra.
Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen has taken the classical world by storm since winning Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition and the Queen Sonia Competition in 2015. She was widely acclaimed for her débuts at the Bayreuth, Aix-en-Provence and Glyndebourne festivals, at the Royal Opera House and Wigmore Hall in London and at the Bavarian and Vienna State Operas. In 2019, Gramophone magazine declared in its review of an album of Strauss and Wagner that Davidsen “is one of the greatest vocal talents to have emerged in recent years, if not decades”.
One of the most prominent Spanish conductors of his generation, JOSE MIGUEL PÉREZ-SIERRA made his conducting début with the Galicia Symphony Orchestra in 2005 and has gone on to lead some of the most distinguished orchestras in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Georgia in performances of operas by Rossini, Bellini, Puccini and Verdi.
The concert will include magnificent arias by Verdi and Puccini.
