Olli-Pekka Tuomisalo has performed 129 times as a soloist with various symphony and wind orchestras. Tuomisalo graduated from the Sibelius Academy in autumn 2009 with a doctorate in music. He gave his first concert at the Sibelius Academy in 2002.

Tuomisalo has been playing with pianist Risto-Matti Marini since 1998. In the same year he also founded the Academic Saxophone Quartet. With these and a few other ensembles, Tuomisalo has premiered most of the Finnish saxophone music – almost 100 works are dedicated to him.

As an orchestral musician, Tuomisalo is a regular member of the Helsinki City Orchestra, Lahti Symphony Orchestra and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. As a saxophonist, Tuomisalo has released 18 solo albums and, as a non-fiction writer, two works on the history of Finnish clarinet and saxophone playing.
