Marjukka Tepponen, one of Finland’s leading sopranos, has captivated audiences and critics alike with her charisma in Finnish and international opera arenas. She made her debut as Violetta in La Traviata at Jyväskylä Opera (2008) and since then has been a regular guest at provincial operas, the Savonlinna Opera Festival and the Finnish National Opera. She made her international debut as Mimi in La Bohème di Graz (2010), and her most notable roles include Puccini’s Mimi in La Bohème di Graz and Líu in Turandot, Mozart’s Fiordiligi in Cosí fan tutte and Tchaikovsky’s Tatyana in Yevgeny Onegin, which she also sang at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in spring 2022. Tepponen is also known as an avid concert performer, both in classical and lighter music. She has recorded several albums and opera recordings, including Gounod’s Faust (Naxos, 2019). Future roles for Tepponen include Donna Anna in the Savonnlinna Opera Festival’s production of Don Giovanni and Margherita in the Dresden State Opera.
