Harpist, musician and visual artist Laura Hynninen has performed as a soloist and chamber musician since the 1990s. She graduated from the Sibelius Academy in 1999 with an A degree in harp. Prior to her current career as a freelance artist, Hynninen has held permanent positions as harp sound director at the Finnish National Opera and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. She has been heard as a soloist with several orchestras, including Avanti!, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Oulu Symphony, Vaasa City Orchestra and Radio Symphony Orchestra. She is also known for his versatile work across genres.
In her solo projects, Laura Hynninen combines her music and visual works with her original style. Hynninen’s solo concerts have been performed at the Kauniainen Music Festival, Riihimäki Summer Concert Series, Kokonainen Festival, Hiljaisuus Festival and Helsinki Harp Festival. Otilia (Alba Records), a solo album composed, performed and produced by Hynninen, was selected by the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation, Yle, as Album of the Year 2021. Hynninen also reached an Emma Award nomination for Otilia in 2022. Laura Hynninen is the artistic director of Sysmän Suvisoitto.
