KERTTU AALTO-SETÄLÄ

KERTTU AALTO-SETÄLÄ has played Principal Flute with the Berlin Konzerthausorkester and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, besides playing guest Principal Flute with the Oslo Philharmonic, the Norwegian and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestras and the Turku Philharmonic. She has performed under conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Daniel Harding, Klaus Mäkelä, Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph Eschenbach and Ivan Fisher, and has appeared as soloist with the Gärtnerplatz Orchestra in Munich and with the Orchestra of the Junior Department of the Sibelius Academy.

Aalto-Setälä studied with Petri Alanko at the Junior Department of the Sibelius Academy from 2009 to 2013 and went on to complete a Bachelor of Music degree in the class of Prof Felix Renggli at the Basel Academy of Music (2013–2016) and a Master of Music degree in the class of Prof Andrea Lieberknecht at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich (2022) and simultaneously at the Sibelius Academy. She also studied at the Orchestra Academy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra from 2017 to 2019. She has received grants from the Finnish Cultural Foundation (2022, 2019, 2017, 2015), the Wihuri Foundation (2015, 2013) and the Pro Musica Foundation (2013).
