ANGELIKA KLAS

Soprano Angelika Klas, celebrating her 25th anniversary as an artist, is known as a particularly versatile artist. Her wide repertoire includes orchestral and chamber music from baroque to contemporary, as well as operetta and stage music. She is also an accomplished interpreter of Astor Piazzolla and tango music.

Angelika Klas graduated from the soloist department of the Sibelius Academy. She has also studied at the Royal Danish Academy and participated in several international masterclasses. In Finland she has studied with Jaakko Ryhänen and Marjut Hannula.

Angelika Klas has appeared in several major opera roles. These include Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro (Countess), Bizet’s Carmen (Carmen) and Piazzolla’s Maria de Buenos Aires (Maria). She has appeared at the Novaya Opera in Moscow, the Mikhailovsky Opera in St Petersburg, the Savonlinna Opera Festival and the Finnish National Opera. She is in demand as an operetta and musical theatre soloist and has appeared in leading roles in many works, including J. Strauss’ Die Fledermaus (Rosalinde) and Viennese Blood (Countess Zedlau), J. Offenbach’s Orfeus in the Underworld (Eurydice), E. Kálman’s Mariza (Mariza) and Gypsy Princess (Sylva Varescu), F. Léhar’s The Count of Luxembourg (Angéle Didier) and the hit musical Tamara (Tamara) produced by the Turku City Theatre.

Angelika Klas has performed at several international festivals, including Korsholm Music Festival, Turku Music Festival, Naantali Music Festival, Kuhmo Chamber Music and Helsinki Festival. He has appeared as a soloist with most Finnish orchestras. Among these are the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Kymi Sinfonietta, Oulu Sinfonia, Kuopio City Orchestra, Lappeenranta City Orchestra, Pori Sinfonietta, and Vantaa Orchestra. She has also performed in Sweden, Estonia, Germany, France, Spain, Lithuania, Hungary, Norway, Russia and Denmark.

Angelika Klas has released several albums, Tango Querido (2010), Kohtalona Tango (2013), Tähtisumua (2017) and Tango Piazzolla (2018). In spring 2024, Angelika’s 25th anniversary album “Laulun juhlaa” was released.
